Guitar Lessons at Limelight

Jim's musical journey began playing the tenor horn and keyboard at school, though it wasn’t until the age of fourteen that he picked up the guitar and truly found his instrument. Forming a band at the age of 18 and entering a national competition with a mix of prog rock and heavy blues funk they made it to the final playing at 'The Hard Rock Café' (Manchester) along the way. The final was held at Ocean bar, Hackney for an audience of 2500.

Jim later went on to play in venues all over the UK including; Edinburgh Fringe festival, The Academy ,Manchester, the Cavern, Liverpool and supported acts such as Alabama 3 .

Several years later Jim went on to reach the Final of the 'National battle of the bands', held at at the 'Birmingham Academy'.

Jim attained a BSc (Hons) degree in Creative Music and Sound Technology at Leeds Metropolitan University spending a lot of time developing different studio recording techniques.


After University Jim, spent 6 months touring Western Australia from Broome to Perth performing in a Jazz swing band. He also spent a year performing in a Mariachi style wedding band in his home town of Blackpool.

Jim Brings to Limelight his qualified experience to deliver one on one Guitar lessons. and will offer Rockschool grades, with a path to enter University for his students via Ucas points*.

Jim is a passionate musician who wants others to share the experience the joy that music has brought to him.

he says; "Through my wealth of performing experience and the skills and techniques I have developed over the years I will mentor students to help them create there all important unique sound.
